Pendon Museum

Pendon Museum preserves the idyllic rural scene and transport of the 1920s and 30s in a miniature form for future generations to enjoy.

We are an independent, accredited museum run almost entirely by volunteers and funded by visitors and our loyal Friends. We aim to provide an enjoyable and informative experience:

  • for family groups
  • for those interested in all disciplines of modelling
  • for those interested in 20th Century rural England, its buildings and its railways.

We usually open at weekends, most Bank Holidays, Wednesdays in most school holidays and Thursdays in August. We have a winter closure period until 3 February 2019.

It would be helpful if you could either buy tickets in advance or print the Gift Aid form and bring a completed copy to the museum with you.

The audio guide is free to those donating Gift Aid and our team of volunteer guides make your visit as enjoyable and informative as they can.

ACCESSIBILITY

PARKING   Pendon has a small car park that is sufficient at most times. If you do find that you need to park on the public road please do so with consideration to our neighbours and the village.

RESTRICTIONS  Please note that pushchairs cannot be accommodated. Dogs are not allowed in the museum.

ADVICE FOR THOSE WITH DISABILITIES     Pendon is a 60-90 minute viewing experience and most of our exhibits are at a height of about 1.4 metres (4ft 6in) above floor level. The view from a wheel chair is restricted.  The Museum is on two floors. Handrails are provided on the stairs and we have a stairlift to the upper floor for those unable to manage the stairs. Wheelchairs must be carried up these stairs by accompanying visitors; we are unable to assist this activity. We restrict the number of wheelchairs allowed on the upper floor at one time for emergency evacuation reasons. Do also note that not all of the upper floor displays are is fully accessible by wheelchair. If you feel that these restrictions may be an issue, please ask at the entrance desk and discuss before entering the Museum and paying for tickets.
