At home in Vienna’s most recent and dynamic cultural area, the premises of the former Anker bread factory, OstLicht found an urban, loft-like home in 2012. The gallery is devoted to contemporary national and international art photography.
For example, it has featured an artistic dialogue between Nobuyoshi Araki and Jürgen Teller and shown works by Wim Wenders, René Burri, Hellen van Meene and David LaChapelle, all received with critical acclaim and enthusiasm. All works presented can also be purchased. The fact that art photography is not only found on walls is proven by the ViennaPhotoBookFestival, which has made Vienna’s Brotfabrik an annual meeting point for photobook lovers from all over the world. The public library featuring more than 20,000 photobooks is the largest of its kind in Austria. A new central depot includes about 100,000 photographs from all epochs.
