CloudGuide, the unique application for Museums, starts its pilot program in 8 cultural institutions

SPAIN – Nov. 19, 2014

The new mobile social experience application to learn, share and view the world’s cultural heritage, launches its pilot program in eight different institutions located in Spain, Austria, Belgium and Mexico.

BARCELONA – November 19th, 2014 – CloudGuide SL has launched its application for iOS and Android with the participation of eight different museums from Spain, Belgium, Austria and Mexico in its pilot program.

The global application is now being tested in a pilot programme in the European Museum of Modern Art - MEAM (Barcelona), Fostering Arts and Design Museum - FAD (Barcelona), René Magritte Museum (Brussels), Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemprary - TBA21 (Vienna) and Museum van Hedendaagse Kunst Antwerpen - MHKA (Antwerp).  Other three institutions from Mexico and Barcelona are internally testing the application and expect to release during the first months of 2015.

“Unlike many other museums apps, CloudGuide allows visitors to access the official content of their favourite museum. It also gives them recommendations of new exhibitions and local museums. CloudGuide does not only give the exhibition background content through audios, videos, texts and images, but also provides access to the entrance tickets, merchandising and the museum’s association. From now on, visitors can take a more active role in their relationship with the museums and cultural sites through leaving opinions and ratings or tagging their favourite pieces of art and taking notes,” says Cristina Perez, one of the Co-founders.

“Museums and art galleries now have a modern channel of communication with their visitors. They can enjoy free promotion and explore new sources of revenues with the help of the CloudGuide app. Finally, they can get to know their visitors better thanks to comprehensive statistics reports,” adds Olga Plets, another Co-founder.

According to the third Co-founder and the C.T.O, “The app is available in 9 different languages so the museums can reach diverse audiences and test all the basic features. The pilot program will allow us to validate our idea, improve the technology and start the expansion of the project in the rest of Europe and the United States.”

After one month of testing of all the basic functionalities, CloudGuide will launch a new version of the application, much more focused on the user experience and interactivity.

CloudGuide, the unique application for Museums, closes Seed Round of financing.

SPAIN – Oct. 9, 2014

The new mobile social experience application to learn, share and view the world’s cultural heritage receives the support from a Google Executive, Ecosystem Ventures and other global business angels.
BARCELONA – September 1st, 2014 – CloudGuide SL has closed an initial Seed Round of financing with the participation of international investors from Spain, Belgium, Germany, Japan and the United States. Six angel investors, including a Google Executive, and Ecosystem Ventures, a Silicon Valley based Fund, participated in the current round.
“All the investors have a wide experience in managing successful international businesses, which will add much value to the company. Furthermore, since the investors are spread in various countries, their respective network will help us enter those markets faster.” says Olga Plets, one of the three Co-founders. CloudGuide also received public financing from the Catalan Administration as a promising innovative start up.
The funds raised by the company will allow it to finance the multiple Pilots with museums and to improve the application by adding enhanced features. It will also accelerate the international expansion by hiring some country representatives in various European countries and the United States.
“The response from Museums, not only in Europe but from around the world, has been amazing. We have a large funnel of interested partners. Let’s not forget that millions of people visit museums every year. Our application will allow visitors to do much more than just read about the current exhibition. For museums, we are providing a platform to increase their revenues and reach their visitors even after they leave the museums”, explains Cristina Pérez, another Co-founder.
“The visitor will no longer have to carry around the old-fashioned, unhygienic audio guide or download multiple apps per museum. Everything will be available from a single multi-lingual application. They can also make purchases in the museum's in-app gift shop, acquire tickets and join the museum association”.
