Marinemuseum

Experience the Navy! The Dutch Navy Museum in Den Helder is the place to visit to experience the navy, for example on board the original navy ships. Discover 500 years of naval history in our monumental Main-building. The magnificent collection consists of ship models, paintings, uniforms, weapons and more. Stand face to face with present-day pirates and witness how the navy combats them.


ACCESSIBILITY

Disability

The bulk of the Marine Museum is handicap accessible. They can reach the counter and the film room on the second floor of the reception building by elevator. Also, there is a wheelchair available. The exhibits in the Geschutmakerij have a good accessibility.

The museum ships, only the ramship Scorpio partially accessible. The main deck and the museum restaurant are accessible by wheelchair. Wheelchair users can therefore visit the museum at a reduced rate. 

Pets

The pets are not allowed unless the dogs are for people who are in need. 


HOW TO REACH

Public transport:

From railway station Den Helder Centraal walk within minutes to the Marine Museum. You can walk from the station to take the Texel Hopper, the ferry Texel. It stops at the Marine Museum. On Texel Hopper can not travel on a chip. Paper tickets are for sale at the Connexxion desk at Den Helder Bus Station. These costs 3 euros. Keep the card good because you can play back trips to the station.

Own transport:

Visit the museum with their own transport, you can reach Den Helder through the provincial road N 9 (from the A9 / Alkmaar), or the N 99 (from the A7 / Den Oever). Follow the signs to Den Helder Texel Ferry and Marine Museum.

The museum offers free parking, even for buses.

Do you have a Defense ID, veteranenpas, postactievenpas, ICOM card or are you a friend of the museum? Then you can show your pass and pick up one ticket at the box office. This gives you free admission to the museum.
