ACCESSIBILITY

The visitor facilities at Stonehenge have been designed to be as accessible as possible in order to meet the different needs of those with access requirements. Full access information for the site is listed below. For more information, or if you have particular access needs, please contact us before you visit. Please note that some facilities may require booking in advance.

We’re committed to ensuring that your visits with us are safe. Due to the current national threat levels, we may carry out additional security checks. This could include running bag searches and carrying out body scans with a hand-held detector. Please note, we’ll need you to agree to this process in order to visit the site. - Wheelchair Access: The main areas in and around car/coach parks, the visitor centre and the Stone Circle are accessible by wheelchair via tarmac and grass paths (subject to weather). The visitor shuttle carriages are also accessible. The wider landscape is not accessible to standard wheelchairs. Two wheelchairs are available to visitors on request at the admissions tills on a first come, first served basis.

HOW TO REACH

PARKING
Parking is available on site. This is free to English Heritage members and Stonehenge ticket holders. A parking ticket is required if you are not visiting Stonehenge itself. Tickets cost £5 and can be bought from ticket kiosks on site. Please note that during peak times the car park is managed by stewards and tickets (cash only) are issued upon entry to the car park. Download a map of the road access and parking. A Visitor Shuttle service operates frequently from outside the shop. No need to pre-book. Takes 10 minutes to reach the Stones. Shuttles stop at Fargo Plantation (about halfway to the Stones) so that visitors can walk part of the way if they wish.

BUS ACCESS

Entrance to Stonehenge is now managed through timed tickets and advance booking is the only way to guarantee entry on the day and time of your choice. By booking in advance you will also benefit from an advanced booking discount.

English Heritage and National Trust members must also book in advance for their FREE visit. (Free visits are applicable to English Heritage members and members of the National Trust in England or those who hold a National Trust Touring Pass only - this does not include National Trust Scotland, National Trust staff or other National Trust affiliated organisations). All members must show a valid membership card on arrival to be granted free parking and site access.
