Museo del Greco

The Greco's Museum in Toledo houses the more modern works of one of the great masters of painting throught a communicative exhibition devoted to his later works.

After his arrival in Toledo, Spanish patrons of the arts and clientele had a decisive influence on the development of El Greco's style. The Museum offers the opportunity to see the artist’s most famous paintings from this period, such as the Apostolate, the Altarpiece of Saint Bernardine and the View and map of of Toledo. It also houses works by some of El Greco’s followers, like the artist Luis Tristán.

There is an exhibition space devoted to the Museum’s founder, the Marquis of Vega-Inclán, which highlights the role of this collector in the promotion of Spanish art as a tourist attraction and the revival of El Greco. There are different exhibition spaces designed by the Marquis, such as the Romantic interpretation of the painter made in the early 20th century, and his original idea for the Museum, helping to explain the location and characteristics of our Museum.

ACCESSIBILITY

With the difficulties that adapting a historical building entails as a starting point, the different spaces of the museum have been adapted to ensure maximum accessibility for all visitors, including those with some form of disability. In order to remove architectural barriers, the museum has a lift, lifting platforms and chair lifts for stairs, ramps and wheelchairs for people with reduced mobility.

In relation to communication barriers, the following resources have been incorporated for people with a hearing disability:

Magnetic loop at help desks and in the function room

Subtitles and videos in Spanish sign language on all audio-visual content
