18 Stafford Terrace

The Sambourne Family Home, step back in time to 1899.


18 Stafford Terrace remains closed from 13 June to 6 September 2019 for conservation cleaning.


ACCESSIBILITY

- Disabled visitors and carers are admitted at concessionary rate

- Guide and assistance dogs are welcome

- Due to the fragile nature of the building and current copyright restrictions, we do not allow photography in the house

- Regrettably, wheelchair or step free access is not possible

- The entrance to 18 Stafford Terrace is down steep steps to the basement

- The house is arranged over five floors with steep stairs both externally and internally

- A total of 77 internal stairs from basement level to the top of the house

- The staircase has a handrail throughout but following the tour may be difficult

for the very elderly or infirm

- Folding stools can be provided on request but there is no fixed seating for visitors

within the historic interiors

- There is no accessible toilet

- The lighting levels are low throughout the house


HOW TO REACH

Underground
High Street Kensington, Olympia or Holland Park.

Buses
9, 10, 27, 28, 49, 328 stop near High Street Kensington station

Car
Metered parking is very limited and the nearest car park is under Kensington Town Hall at Hornton Street W8 7NX. On Sundays, parking in a metered parking bay is free all day and you can park in a Residents Parking bay for free until 1pm when you will then have to move your car.

Coach
Coaches may drop visitors off at the end of the street but cannot park.

OPEN ACCESS A self-guided visit that allows you to explore 18 Stafford Terrace at your own pace. On-site volunteer visitor assistants and information cards can provide background and answer questions. No booking required.
