Royal Academy of Arts

For nearly 250 years, the RA has been a place to make, exhibit and debate art. Based in the heart of London between Soho and Mayfair, we host internationally acclaimed exhibitions and single artist shows. We are also home to a contemporary art school, the annual open submission Summer Exhibition and Britain's first institutional Fine Art Library. At our core are the Royal Academicians: eminent artists and architects, who you can discover through our range of events, displays and talks.

For nearly 250 years, the RA has been a place to make, exhibit and debate art.

Based in the heart of London between Soho and Mayfair, we host internationally acclaimed exhibitions and single artist shows, which have ranged from Ai WeiweiBronzeand Painting the Modern Garden: Monet to Matisse

We are also home to a school of contemporary fine art. Each year, we meet the cost of tuition fees for all students accepted onto the course, which is funded in part by our annual Summer Exhibition: the world's largest open submission show where the majority of works are for sale.

At our core are the Royal Academicians - eminent artists and architects, who inform and participate in our diverse range of special events and seminars, temporary displays, and course and classes.

Unlike most of our peers we do not receive revenue funding from government and so we are reliant upon the support of visitors, donors, sponsors, and the loyal Friends of the Royal Academy to continue our work.

For our anniversary in 2018 we are opening up the RA as never before, transforming our historic buildings - and inviting visitors old and new to celebrate with us.
