National Palace of Pena and Chalet of the Countess of Edla

The Palace of Pena and its surrounding Park, where the Chalet of the Countess of Edla is also located, in the Sintra hills, are the result of the creative genius of King Ferdinand II. The Manueline and Moorish architectural references of the Palace, and the Alpine architectural influences of the Chalet, together with the Park of Pena with a forest of lush gardens with more than five hundred tree species, make this complex the maximum exponent of the 19th century romanticism in Portugal.
