Lyric Theatre

The award-winning Lyric Theatre makes a unique and vital contribution to the community as the only full-time producing theatre in Northern Ireland.

Premiering the works of playwrights such as Stewart Parker, Martin Lynch, Marie Jones and Christina Reid, and employing some of Northern Ireland’s finest actors, including Adrian Dunbar, Dan Gordon, Conleth Hill, Ciaran Hinds, Stella McCusker, Frances Tomelty and the Theatre’s patron, Liam Neeson, its mission is to produce high-quality professional theatre that is alive to the complex cultural experience and diverse traditions of the community, and to use the power of live theatre to empower, inspire, engage and educate.

We have an accessible entrance at Ridgeway Street and lift access to all floors. We have two extended disabled parking bays with dropped kerbs in front of the Ridgeway Street entrance. This entrance can also serve as a drop-off point for customers with access needs. We have wheelchair spaces in several areas within both auditoria.

In the Main Stage we have a rise and fall platform, offering seating in Row J. Other options are available in Row R and the Balcony. We ask customers to give us advance notice of their needs when booking.

We have accessible toilets (left and right handed) on different levels of the building. Infra-red audio enhancement is available in both auditoria, to assist customers with hearing and visual impairments. Audio equipment can be collected from our Kiosk in advance of the show.

Baby changing facilities are available on the ground floor. An adult changing mat is also available, on request from our Box Office.

Babe-in-arms tickets are available for children under the age of two years old who do not require their own seat. This ticket is free of charge and must be booked through Box Office.

We welcome assistance dogs in both auditoria. Again, we ask customers to give us advance notice of their needs when booking and bring the accompanying documentation. We offer a free carer seat to any customer who needs essential assistance to attend the theatre.

The Lyric is located in the Queen’s Quarter, at the junction of Ridgeway Street and Stranmillis Embankment, just 50m from the Kings Bridge. It is a 30 minute walk (2.5km) from Belfast City Centre.
There are cycle racks in front of the building. There are also Belfast Bike Hire docking points at Shaftesbury Square and Botanic Avenue, a short walk away.
There is no parking at the theatre, however, parking is available along the Stranmillis Embankment and there is a car park with space for 100 vehicles at the junction of Stranmillis Road and Stranmillis Embankment (400m walk). We ask that customers respect the needs of the residents in the Stranmillis area and we discourage parking in the residential streets off Ridgeway Street, Stranmillis Road and Annadale Flats. There are two extended parking bays with dropped kerbs for customers with disabilities outside our front door on Ridgeway St.
The closest bus stop is at the junction of the Stranmillis Rod and Ridgeway Street, just 200m from the front door of the Theatre. The stop is served by the Translink Metro Bus Service 8a, which departs from Donegal Square East at the side of Belfast City Hall, just outside the Ulster Bank headquarters. Buses leave every 15 minutes at peak times and the journey takes approximately 15 minutes.
The nearest railway station is Botanic Avenue, just 0.9 miles away (17min walk).
