The Wild Center is a state-of-the-art, natural history museum located in the Adirondack Mountains of upstate New York unlike any other museum, zoo, aquarium, trail system or classroom you’ve seen. But it has the most appealing features of all these places. Hands-on experiences, guided canoe paddles, 115 acres of outdoors and 54,000 square feet of museum help visitors discover all the new ways to see into the wild world.
Inside The Wild Center you can explore 54,000-square-feet of exhibit halls, meet one of the over 900 animals that call The Wild Center home, peruse a myriad of changing exhibits, or watch one of our short films. Outside, explore 115 acres of interconnected trails, head to the river to canoe or paddleboard with a guide, or discover the Pines Play Area, a wild playground in the forest where children can connect to their inner Huck Finn. Lastly, no trip is complete with experiencing the award-winning Wild Walk. Wild Walk takes visitors up a trail of bridges to the treetops of the Adirondack forest. It’s designed to transform the way we see into the natural world by offering up the perspective of the rest of nature. Visit a four-story twig tree house, swing on bridges, clamber over a spider’s web or climb to the full-sized bald eagle’s nest at the highest point.
