Vienna State Opera

Wiener Staatsoper is one of the leading opera houses in the world. Its past is steeped in tradition. Its present is alive with richly varied performances and events. Each season, the schedule features 350 performances of more than 60 different operas and ballets.


Every night, you can witness world-class artists alongside the permanent ensemble members on the stage and at the conductor’s desk, accompanied by a unique orchestra: the orchestra of Wiener Staatsoper, whose members at the same time make up the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.

In 2013, director Dominique Meyer launched Wiener Staatsoper live at home, a project for digital outreach: It allows opera and ballet lovers all over the world to follow the performances of the Wiener Staatsoper on their digital devices.

ACCESSIBILITY

There are 4 designated wheelchair spaces in the orchestra stalls for visitors with limited mobility with a companion seat. In addition, there are up to 18 designated wheelchair spaces with a companion seat on the balcony.

Holders of a disability certificate are entitled to a 50% discount at the evening box office, provided that there are any remaining tickets.

There are taxi ranks near-by, after the performance taxis will drive up to the main entrance.

There are two underground car parks in the direct vicinity of Wiener Staatsoper:

and

Best in parking – Kärntnerstrasse Tiefgarage (“Operngarage”)

From the “Operngarage” (Kärntnerstrasse-Tiefgarage on Herbert von Karajan-Platz) you have direct access to the foyer of Wiener Staatsoper.

Are there discounts available for parking?
Wiener Staatsoper and ÖPARK-Kärntnerringgarage at Mahlerstrasse 8 (located under the Ringstrassengalerien shopping mall) offer discounted flat-fee parking for persons attending performances at Wiener Staatsoper (up to 8 hours parking for € 7). Please draw a ticket at the entrance to the Kärntnerringgarage underground car park and have it stamped at one of the discount machines located at the cloakrooms of Wiener Staatsoper.
This discount does not apply to the Kärtnerstrasse underground car park (“Operngarage”).
